RIP Bruce Loose

 R.I.P. Bruce Loose! I bought this Flipper shirt from Bruce Loose right as he was pulling things from a bag for their merch table. It was August 2005, for the Save Cbgbs fest. Ariel the Chilean cobra lived at the Deathchurch at the time, and knew a bartender that worked at CBGBs and she got me in. 1982 line-up of Flipper with the Nihilistics opening. By the time I moved to the Bay Area in 1994, Flipper had just quit playing shows as Bruce injured his back in the beginning of the year. Flipper was a great band, sludge all the way!

Back in time

  #tbt When TimJim @san_jo_250 moved to Brooklyn in early 2000s, he introduced me to Caroline, who was the bartender at the Right Bank. Caroline tended at 5 other bars in Brooklyn and she let me have my own night at all of them, where I booked some bands, and dj'ed with my roommates all through 2003-2004. Before we called the crew Deathchurch, it was Watanabe Audio, It was named after Gedde Watanabe (Long Duk Dong in Sixteen Candles), then it was Stupid DJs. Lit is the only place still open out of all the places I did events at. This was all over 20 years ago. Ronnie's @bushwickron band played one of the first ones, Jeprox is me and Timjim doing a noise jam.
