I don't know where the manager got his reference of an existence of a Russian street gang, but since a little kid in the 70s I've known the sigue sigue sputnik gang been around and committing crimes/ruling the prison structure. And the ones that argue the Philippine gang probably took it from the band's name -- so gang existing since the 60s ripped it off a band from the 80s, okay?!?.
